Trade Credit

What is Trade Credit?

In short, trade credit reduces your out-of-pocket cost on new and used books.

How do I get trade credit?

That's easy! Simply bring in your gently read books (limit 20 books per day). Once we have inspected them for quality and quantity limits, you will receive 20% of the cover price in trade credit.

Will you pay cash for books?

No. Sorry, we do not offer cash for books, only trade credit.

How does trade credit save me money?

Used Book purchase with trade credit:

*Example Cover price: $8.00

*Less 50% (standard): $4.00

*Less 25% trade credit: $2.00

*Your out of pocket cost: $2.00 (plus tax)

New Book Purchase with trade credit:

*Example Cover price: $8.00

*Less 25% trade credit: $2.00

*Your out of pocket cost: $6.00 (plus tax)

What books do you not accept?

*General fiction hardcover, unless new release.  (Always easiest to let us see them.)

*Textbooks

*Library Discarded Books

*Books with highlighting, underlining, margin notes, torn, broken spines, water damaged, etc.

*Harlequins / Silhouette Novellas / Love Inspired

*Magazines - we will not accept these for any genre or reading ability

*We reserve the right to refuse any book.

*We do not accept VHS, DVD, CD, Vinyl, or other media that is not a book

At this time, we are only accepting nonfiction that has a publication date within the last two years.

Are you accepting books?

We receive calls, e-mails, and messages about this question daily. Yes, we accept books 99% of the time we are open. When we have special events, we will post that books are not being accepted at that time. It is only fair to you and the the other customers to keep the flow moving.

General Trade Credit FAQ's.

*Trade credit is NOT a gift card and has no cash value.

*Trade credit will expire if left unused for 24 consecutive months.

* We do not send reminders for Trade Credit usage

*Trade accounts cannot be shared without the owners permission.

*We do not guarantee to take books simply because they were purchased here. They have to come back in resale condition, and not exceed our inventory limits.

* Trade credit is only valid on New & Used books, not any other merchandise in store.

*DONATE your older hardcovers to us and we will sell for $1 and donate the money locally within the Winona community.

Cards & Postcards

Drop a note to your favorite person with one of our postcards!  Locally made greeting cards for $2, with all money donated to the Winona Food Shelf.

Bookmarks

It goes without saying, a bookstore obviously has bookmarks.  We try to keep a variety of young, pretty, and smart-mouth bookmarks to satisfy everyone.

Puzzle Exchange

We host a puzzle exchange by the front door. They range  from 48 - 1,500 pieces.  Puzzles are brought in and exchanged for free.  We do not count the pieces or monitor who takes what. It's a community courtesy.
